Project description:
Automatic external defibrillator (AED) is a device that can save the life of a person who has life-threatening arrhythmia. The device is used by laypersons in public places such as airports, train stations, parks (e.g. Disneyland Park), big shopping malls or hotels. In Republika Srpska there are no AEDs installed. At Dulles International Airport in Washington DC there is one AED at every 500 meters, as is the case with train stations in all large European cities.
We would like to have RC Aequalitas, together with the District, install the first AED in Republika Srpska. Prof. AleksandarLazarevic, a cardiologist and an honorable member, would train all the members of the club on how to use AED and would continue further with those activities to include all the members of RC Aequalitas.
The goal is to train drivers on how to use AED, as part of the first aid training, as well as schoolchildren, who would then continue to transfer this knowledge further. We would organize a series of lectures in all BiH towns with Rotary clubs. Installing AEDs in public places is the sign of high health awareness and awareness of what is appropriate response in urgent situations.
Sustainability:
After the installment of the first AED, we would continue with this project until all BiH towns with Rotary clubs have at least one AED.
Type of activity:
Health and prevention. Purchasing, installation and education about usage of AED.
